ZOL hospital premières with Barco bedside terminals

1 分钟阅读

Nothing less than state of the art: that was, put simply, how the Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg (ZOL) hospital in Genk, Belgium, wanted its new wing to be. Today’s official opening demonstrates that ZOL has achieved that lofty objective. One of the eye-catchers are 60 Barco bedside terminals, including advanced point-of-care enterprise software, that provide patients with entertainment options and touchscreen controls for both lights and blinds. The number of terminals and their functionality will be extended in the future.

Enhance patient comfort

“Our patients expect the multimedia experience they enjoy at home, in their hospital room too,” said ZOL director Erwin Bormans. “So we’ve invested in bedside terminal technology as we’re confident that it will enhance their well-being, while improving the workflow for our staff.” Once ZOL had decided to integrate smart bedside terminals, it chose the Barco solution on account of Barco’s market leadership – and, hence, reliability – and the flexibility to easily extend the solution with other functions. The hospital plans to integrate other features, like secure access to electronic patient records and clinical information at the bedside, in the future, to further enhance the workflow.

Setting the tone

Evelien De Smet, Segment Director EMEAI Point of Care Solutions, Healthcare Division: “The bedside terminals fit perfectly with Barco’s long-term vision of improving healthcare efficiency, in addition to giving patients a more comfortable stay. The demand for smart terminals is on the rise and we hope that ZOL will set the tone for more installations in the future.”
