From cooperation to partnership: inside Barco’s LED story

“When we explain to customers that we now offer our LED solutions together with Barco’s image processing and control, they’re really excited,” says Unilumin’s Tina Cao. The customer excitement confirms what both companies believed: stepping up the partnership in 2025 was the right call. Here’s how the long-standing cooperation between Unilumin and Barco is turning into a joint way of working.
“When Unilumin started, over 20 years ago, we already knew Barco as a global visualization leader,” says Tina, VP and General Manager of Unilumin’s International Sales & Service Center. “Back then, we hoped we’d be able to cooperate one day.”
That opportunity became real about six years ago. Teams met, visited each other, and quickly recognized the fit. Since 2019, Unilumin has been co-designing and manufacturing Barco's LED video wall solutions.
Why a closer partnership was the logical next step
Fast forward to 2025. LED is moving faster than ever. Innovation keeps accelerating, LED adoption spreads into new spaces, and expectations keep climbing. Customers don’t just want nice images. They demand consistency, stability, and security across the full setup.
“New LED technology such as the small-pitch COB and MIP displays are gaining rapid traction,” says Michael Lingier, Global Product Specialist LED at Barco. “It became clear to us that alliances with other industry leaders would be needed to keep offering state-of-the-art LED solutions in our specific markets. So in 2025, Barco decided to focus on what it does best, image processing and control, while we rely on experts like Unilumin and other partners to bring their strength in LED displays.”
“In the past, we mainly provided components, and Barco brought the solution around it,” says Tina. “But while our LED displays enable unparalleled visuals, they are only as good as the processing behind them. That’s where Barco expertise and experience make a difference.”
The benefits: broader range, new markets
“When customers need solutions beyond our portfolio, we can now refer to partner solutions, such as Unilumin COB and MIP ranges powered by Barco processing,” explains Evy Spruyt, Product Marketing Manager at Barco. Unilumin, for their part, can now pair their LED walls with Barco’s premium Infinipix™ Gen2 LED processing. Designed and manufactured in Europe, Infinipix ensures both stellar image quality and highly secured, reliable operations."
“The Barco processing makes our LED solutions more reliable, more beautiful and easier to use,” says Tina. “And Infinipix adds something customers care deeply about: end-to-end security across the full chain.”
This reliability and security matter greatly in control rooms. But the story doesn’t stop in control rooms. “The partnership also opens doors to projects in corporate environments, retail, advertising, and entertainment,” Evy continues. “Moreover, it helps Barco bring its solutions into the mid-market segment.”
How we work together: joint development, real presence, shared momentum
Behind the scenes, the partnership isn’t a simple “ship hardware, ship processing” handoff. It’s a hands-on, shared effort across teams.
“We work much closer than before on the new Truepix NT series," says Tina. "We develop together: Barco sets the technical requirements, and our teams drive the R&D. We meet regularly, solve issues together, and keep improving the solution for the end customer.”
It’s also an operational commitment: Unilumin has a dedicated production approach for Barco-related products, and Barco colleagues are present in Unilumin’s factory for quality and R&D alignment. Both companies meet frequently: weekly in working groups, and regularly at management level.
Evy adds: “On the sales and marketing side, we’re taking the first steps now. We’ll soon do more together, including trade shows and joint outreach.”

What success looks like, two to three years from now
The Barco - Unilumin alliance became tangible at InfoComm 2025 in Orlando. The first integration demo drew immediate attention. “The market response was encouraging,” Tina recalls. “Our customers know Barco as a trustworthy brand, and they were excited about the collaboration.”
Since then, the partnership has moved from demo to delivery, with the first Unilumin LED solutions featuring Infinipix Gen2 processing now shipped.
So, what’s next? Both partners share the same direction: more value for customers, more reach, and stronger outcomes together.
“We know our cooperation brings great value for the end user,” Tina says. “Satisfied customers make both of us happy.” Michael sets the ambition: “We need to enter new markets and keep raising the bar on performance and security.”
