Certified for Microsoft Teams: ClickShare enters the room system market

In October 2025, Barco’s Frauke De Graeve took the stage at UCX in London to talk about the evolving workspace. Her co-host: a Microsoft expert. The presentation was more than a joint appearance. It marked the outcome of a year of intense collaboration between Barco and Microsoft, which culminated in Microsoft certification for our new ClickShare Hub.
“Barco and Microsoft have always played in different segments of the meeting room market,” says Frauke, Global Marketing Communications Manager for Meeting Experience. “ClickShare was a leader in the wireless bring-your-own-device (BYOD) market: it enables users to host calls from their own laptops with their preferred video conferencing platform, using the meeting room’s audio and video equipment. Microsoft’s Teams Rooms system is different. It’s a dedicated in-room set-up where the video conferencing platform runs on the room device and participants join from a control panel in the room.”
From BYOD to the room systems space
The meeting room market is big, with ample room for different types of systems: globally, there are roughly 100 million meeting spaces, of which around 45 million are dedicated meeting rooms. Only 7.5 million are currently video-enabled. Yet while the potential is significant, the market is also highly competitive. For Barco, partnering with Microsoft was logical next step to stay ahead.
“Our roads crossed in 2024, when Microsoft recognized the importance of BYOD in meeting room systems,” Frauke recalls. “We first integrated ClickShare Conference into Shared Spaces, Microsoft’s collaboration environment. Later that year, we announced that the next generation of ClickShare solutions would be built using the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform. In 2025, we revealed our move into the room systems space.”
The best of both worlds
That move resulted in ClickShare Hub, which has now been certified for Teams Rooms. The solution stays true to what ClickShare has always stood for: exceptional user-friendliness, simplicity, quality and security. Its native software, however, enables ClickShare Hub to operate as a room system – a first for Barco.
“The great thing is that ClickShare Hub is the best of both worlds,” Frauke adds. “The bundle includes one or two new ClickShare Buttons, so users can easily share content both in the call itself and in the meeting, directly from their laptops. That’s something other Teams Rooms systems simply don’t offer.”
Microsoft certification: an extra stamp of trust
To be commercialized as Microsoft Teams Rooms solution, ClickShare Hub needed to comply with a series of Microsoft standards, including Microsoft certification. “Microsoft wants to be able to fully support the set-up,” Frauke explains. “That’s why ClickShare Hub and the Sennheiser sound bar included in the bundle underwent extensive testing in Microsoft labs.” At the end of 2025, the team achieved the long-anticipated certification.
A new way of working
Behind the scenes, the Barco – Microsoft partnership required a mindset shift, Frauke admits: “ClickShare Conference was all about interoperability. Working with all platforms, devices and displays has long been its strength, so we’ve always been pretty much in the lead. Today, we launch joint communications, present together at events, run webinars, and work closely with Microsoft on specifications and testing frameworks.
These efforts do pay off: customers who already loved ClickShare are genuinely excited that it has become available as a Microsoft Teams Rooms solution."
Looking ahead: AI in every meeting room
The partnership aligns closely with both Barco’s and Microsoft’s long-term vision. “Microsoft wants to bring AI and Copilot capabilities into every meeting room,” Frauke explains. “That requires compute power in the room, essentially a small computer. That’s where ClickShare fits naturally. Our hardware can provide that foundation.”
With ClickShare’s large installed base, Barco is well positioned to support future AI-driven meeting experiences. “This collaboration is a powerful example of how Barco is evolving from hardware into a hardware + software-enabled ecosystem,” Frauke concludes.
We value partners like Barco who share our vision for inclusive, secure, and seamless collaboration across the modern workplace, and are excited for customers choosing ClickShare to experience Teams Rooms.
