The largest Barco video wall in the region’s cable communications industry
Established in 2000, SBB Serbia rapidly became the country’s leading cable TV and broadband Internet provider. With the demand for broadband exploding and ever-new developments in the pipe, the provider is constantly looking for ways to optimize operations and serve its customers to the max. The decision to build a new Technical Center in Belgrade, featuring a state-of-the-art, future-proof Network Operation Center (NOC) and Master Control Room (MCR), perfectly fitted that operational excellence strategy.
The project included implementing a new communication infrastructure, as well as setting up a future-proof video wall on which to visualize the network. Based on positive past experiences, SBB Serbia joined forces with Barco. While the existing video wall, a 4x2 NSL-4601 and Barco’s Networked Broadcast Monitoring System were relocated to the new building’s Master Control Room, new 8x2 and 4x2 OverView NSL-4621 LCD video walls – including TransForm ECU-110 controllers and CMS software – were set up too. This is the largest Barco video wall installation in the region’s cable communications industry.
“The LCD video wall is very bright, has high resolution and deep dark levels, which make it perfect to clearly visualize the data-driven information that we monitor,” said Mr. Srdjan Djurdjevic, Research and Development Director at SBB. The TransForm ECU110, which by default includes the Barco Display Control Software, allows operators to create, save, or recall layouts in a wink. So that they can perfectly monitor and control all aspects of the network – from data transport and TV signal distribution through to satellite downlinks and uplinks, real-time communications, etc.
“We’re proud to be equipped with a powerful, flexible, fully integrated NOC which enables us to deliver a broad range of excellent network services to both residential and business users in the region,” Djurdjevic concluded.
