14th Rio International Film Festival expands its digital footprint

1 min de lecture

‘The Pleasure Garden’, a Hitchcock classic from 1925, projected live on Copacabana beach in digital format: it was one of the eyecatchers at the recent 14th Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival. In the space of two weeks, over 400 movies were shown, most of them digitally. As an event sponsor, Barco had installed four digital cinema projectors in all at four different theaters.

Some years ago now, the Rio Film Festival embarked upon a shift to digital projection. During this year’s edition, digital appeared more overruling than ever. At four different venues, Barco’s digital projectors ensured bright, crisp images. The opening movie, ”Gonzaga from Father to Son”, one of the most awaited Brazilian movies this year, was shown using Barco’s ultra-bright DP4K-23B projector. The feedback was more than enthusiastic.

The Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival is Latin America’s largest in terms of volume, with feature films, documentaries, shorts and children’s movies from more than 60 countries, shown at some 30 venues. Barco customers Cinemark and Cinépolis also exhibited festival movies at their Rio-based theaters. There too, Barco digital cinema projectors truly helped enhance the cinema experience.
