Overall, the CX-50 Gen2 is a form-fit-function replacement for the CX-50 Gen1.
The procedure below applies when transitioning to a CX-50 Gen2 running FMW 02.16.00. However, please consider the following important differences and requirements:
Key considerations
- The power adapter of the CX-50 Gen1 is not compatible with the CX-50 Gen2.
- It will physically plug in, the CX-50 Gen2 will not boot up.

- The CX-50 Gen2 doesn't have a physical HDMI™ input.
- When you need this, you'll need to order the HDMI™ IN to USB-C convertor kit (R9861581).

- The CX-50 Gen2 doesn't have a SPDIF output.
- The CX-50 Gen2 has 2 x USB-A and 2 x USB-C connectors while the CX-50 Gen1 has 3 x USB-A and 1 x USB-C connectors.
- You'll need to fully reconfigure the CX-50 Gen2
- a.k.a. it's not possible to transfer the configuration from your CX-50 Gen1 device.
