Since 2007, the REACH Regulation deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals with the aim to improve the protection of human health and the environment through the better and earlier identification of certain chemical substances.
Barco supports the objective of REACH to further improve the European Union’s chemicals regulation system and the aim to advance public health and safety and to protect the environment.
Barco is a supplier of “articles” as defined in REACH. The substances contained in Barco products are not intended to be released under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions of use.
Barco has requested to all its suppliers to provide information about the chemicals in their products and parts. This has allowed us to provide our customers with reliable information about Substances of Very High Concern as required by Article 33 of REACH.
Since 2009 we started our Supplier Sustainability Program with the aim of establishing our own database of chemical and material information related to all our components and parts and to pursue environmental compliance best practice.
Barco also encourages its suppliers to provide Full Material Declarations of their articles with the aim of minimizing all the data maintenance efforts. These data are currently used to enhance our products’ environmental performance and to anticipate future regulatory developments.
