Barco knows about design!

GALARDÓN - PANTALLAS MURALES DE VÍDEO 1 minutos leídos

OK, this title may sound like a bold claim. Yet we are very proud that our design efforts are appreciated by the experts too. Just this week, the renowned German Design Council informed us that our OBLX free-standing structure, a Red Dot winner, got a special mention in the ‘Excellent Product Design’ category of the German Design Awards. Moreover, our 2013 annual report – which already landed bronze at the Vision Awards earlier this year! - got a special mention in the ‘Corporate and Brand Design’ category.

Much-coveted accolade
The German Design Council, which has been active in design for over 60 years now, created the German Design Awards in 2010, as a way of identifying, presenting and honoring unique design trends. This year, the German Design Council received no fewer than 2,250 German and international submissions, thus showing how its prizes have become a much-coveted accolade. An expert jury, including representatives from industry, the academic world and the design industry, selected the winners in ten different categories. In addition, design enthusiasts casted their vote for ‘the Public’s Choice’.

We have two winners!
In July, we were glad to hear that four Barco products had been nominated for an Award – the Nio Color 2MP LED medical displays (‘Industry, Materials and Healthcare’), our OBLX-55 freestanding structure (‘Office’), the ISIS (MDP-471/4) display and our PHXG-91B projector (‘Computer and Entertainment’) -, in addition to the 2013 annual report. The OBLX and the annual report received a special mention in their categories. The German Design Awards confirm the earlier success of both the OBLX and Barco’s 2013 annual report. In March, our OBLX won the prestigious Red Dot - Best of the Best design award, while the League of American Communication Professionals (LACP) gave our report the Bronze medal at its Vision Awards.

Barco will officially receive its prize during ‘Ambiente 2015’ in Frankfurt, in February next.
