Barco’s HDR Lightsteering technology has already amazed audiences at multiple studio demos and US film festivals. Now, we are proud to bring this technology for the first time ever to the European community of creatives and studios, as part of an exclusive showcase during the Cannes Film Festival. Over a period of 2 days, Barco is inviting directors, colorists, studio professionals and other representatives of the creative movie community to a demonstration of its HDR Lightsteering technology. The migration to HDR is considered a key driver behind the future of content creation for cinema as well as exhibition. Barco is bringing to the table the most scalable, cinema-centric and viable technology through HDR Lightsteering.
The Cannes Film Festival presents to its audiences new films of all genres, including documentaries, from all around the world. The 76th edition will take place from 16 to 27 May 2023 at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. Barco has set up its HDR showcase at the nearby Cineum Cannes theater, and is inviting festival attendees to stop by during the weekend of May 20th and 21st. On the agenda are short technical demos, where our crew of professional cinematographers will explain the impact HDR Lightsteering can have on movie-making, as well as a presentation of selected HDR clips. Afternoons and evenings are dedicated to exclusive screenings of complete feature films, graded in HDR in close collaboration with the directors and validated on the HDR Lightsteering setup.
Barco would like to thank the directors and producers of the 4 feature films that collaborated with us to grade their movie in HDR. A lot of gratitude also goes the colorists and postproduction sites that made available their time and facilities to jointly create and review all clips and movie.
