Barco CTRL puts the whole picture on one canvas at the Texas Cancer Interception Institute

Dallas, Texas · 2026

The Texas Cancer Interception Institute (TCII) has a clear goal: catch cancer earlier, when it is easier to treat. Part of Baylor Scott & White Health, it is based at the Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center in Dallas. Its command center is where shared data, expertise and collaboration come together, and is one of four spaces in a larger installation delivered by integrator Taurus Technologies.

Barco solution:

  • Barco CTRL, the KVM over IT solution for control rooms, for five desks.

Key benefits:

  • Five desks serve up to 12 rotating operators
  • One canvas brings multiple sources onto the wall
  • Single keyboard and mouse reach every source
  • Sign-on follows the customer’s LDAP security policies
  • Less automation equipment, simpler wall changes

The challenge

A room built for collaboration needs a video wall that everyone can read at a glance, and operators who can reshape that wall without a fuss. This requires a command center platform that is both easy to install and to use. Reaching that flexibility the traditional way would have meant adding a lot of automation equipment, and with it more to install and maintain.

Then there are the people. Five operator desks serve up to 12 rotating operators, and those users can change over time. For the customer’s security team, that raised a fair question: how do you let a shifting crew in without loosening the rules? LDAP and other sign-on policies had to fit.

The solution

Taurus Technologies designed the room around Barco CTRL, the KVM over IT solution for control rooms. A fine-pitch LED wall gives the room a shared visual reference, and CTRL feeds it. Multiple sources land on one expansive canvas, and the same platform runs the five operator desks. With a single keyboard and mouse, operators can reach every source they need, and windowing control (the part that decides how pleasant a wall is to use day to day), stays simple.

The benefits

The most visible gain is simplicity. Changing what the wall shows is quick, and one platform covers both wall and desks, so there is far less automation equipment to put in and keep running.

The rotating team benefits too. Every desk offers the same interface, so a new operator can sit down and get to work. On the security side, access can follow the customer’s own sign-on policies, even as the list of users changes.

The installation itself went smoothly. Taurus described the integration as excellent, and the customer was helpful and pleased throughout.

For a team whose mission is to detect cancer sooner, a wall that shows the whole picture without effort is a fitting tool.
