Dr Virgil Ionescu, an experienced medical doctor specializing in general radiology, has been working in Bucharest, Romania, for over two decades. His primary focus is on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), with occasional readings of X-rays. Given the critical nature of medical imaging, Dr Ionescu emphasizes the necessity of working with superior image quality to accurately diagnose and treat patients.

Key benefits:
In 2013, Dr Ionescu began practicing teleradiology, interpreting medical images at home. Initially, he used a high-quality laptop, but it soon became apparent that this setup was inadequate for his professional needs. The limited screen size and insufficient image quality hindered his ability to accurately interpret complex medical images. Dr Ionescu needed a medical-grade monitor that could replicate the capabilities of the equipment used in hospitals.
During a visit to the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) tradeshow, Dr Ionescu discovered Barco’s radiology monitors. After a thorough discussion with Barco representatives and evaluating the products, he decided to invest in a Coronis Fusion 4MP monitor for his home office.
With its Fusion format and large screen surface, the monitor makes viewing multiple images side-by-side easy. It offers accurate color representation, necessary to interpret biomarker data, for example. The display also clearly represents dynamic studies involving organs like the heart or bowels, where movement needs to be captured and analyzed.
The Coronis Fusion 4MP allows adjustment of its luminosity in line with ambient light changes. Additionally, its protective glass reduces reflections to optimize eye comfort. "An important reason why I chose the Coronis Fusion 4MP display was its excellent resolution and protective glass, which offers a good sensation for the eyes," Dr Ionescu states. "I cannot see myself in the monitor, only the images, which is crucial for maintaining focus and accuracy."
The decision to invest in a Barco Coronis monitor proved to be fortuitous. Shortly after Dr Ionescu’s purchase, the Covid-19 pandemic struck, and the private hospital for which he worked was converted into a Covid-19 treatment center. Since then, Dr Ionescu successfully conducts his radiology work entirely from home.
"In medical imaging, images are data sets that require precise viewing for accurate diagnosis. Barco monitors provide the clarity and resolution needed to analyze these images effectively," Dr Ionescu explains.
Dr Ionescu's experience underscores the importance of having high-quality medical imaging equipment not only in hospitals but also for teleradiology. The ability to work from home with the same level of precision as in the hospital helps Dr Ionescu to provide optimal care to his patients.
