Barco wins title ‘Pride of Kortrijk’

The province of West-Flanders and the city of Kortrijk recently joined forces for ‘Undertaking in Kortrijk’, a project promoting companies located in the Kortrijk area. A competition for the title of ‘Pride of Kortrijk’ was held as a part of the program. The winners were announced yesterday evening, and Barco came out as one of them in the category 'Large Companies'.

Barco was selected for the category ‘Large Companies’ on account of a series of impressive facts and figures. As a global leader in visualization solutions with headquarters in Kortrijk, Barco is active in more than 90 countries and reached a turnover of 1.041 billion euros in 2011. Barco employs 3,700 people, 1,650 of which are stationed in Belgium. Jean de Bethune, Alderman for Local Economy in Kortrijk, is honored that the city of Kortrijk accommodates a global leading company such as Barco. “Its presence in the Kortrijk area makes for an indirect employment of 100 contractors, more than 6,000 overnight stays, and more than 7,000 taxi rides per year.” Barco, already holding the title of ‘Ambassador of West-Flanders’, is pleased to now be recognized by Kortrijk as a company to be proud of.
