Barco proudly announces that its President and CEO, Eric Van Zele, is the winner of the Manager of the Year 2012 award. The award recognizes the past year’s best-performing manager in the Belgian business world.
The Belgian Manager of the Year competition is organized by the business magazine Trends, TV channel Kanaal Z, and the Flemish Management Association (Vlaamse Management Associatie). Today, the jury of academics, journalists and captains of industry announced that Eric Van Zele has been awarded the title of Manager of the Year 2012. Mr. Van Zele was selected on account of his strong leadership skills, with which he helped Barco pull through the crisis year 2009, and on account of the vision and acumen with which he turned Barco into a truly international company, seizing growth opportunities worldwide and achieving profitable double-digit growth over the last three years.
Eric Van Zele remarked: “I’m extremely honored to receive this award on behalf of the Barco community. This award really recognizes the hard work we’ve done over the last few years, and I would like to dedicate it to our 3,700 employees for going the extra mile, day in day out, to make this happen. We successfully changed the company’s strategic directions, growing beyond visualization into a true AV company – and for the first time in the company’s long history, we broke through the one billion euro sales barrier.”
Eric Van Zele, who was also shortlisted for the 2011 award, joins an impressive list of winners. This is the second time that a Barco CEO has been elected, and Barco is now one of the only three companies to have won the award twice.
