Moviegoers applaud Auro 11.1 by Barco at Carmike’s debut of “Turbo”

Carmike Cinemas Riverstone 15 in Canton, Georgia recently unveiled DreamWorks Animation’s “Turbo” in Auro 11.1 by Barco. As the region’s first to offer this one-of-a-kind immersive cinema audio, it amazed audiences with true-to-life, 3D audio sound. As one moviegoer described it, “When the jets flew over at the beginning of the race, that was really cool. [It] felt like it was actual fighter jets coming from behind! The premium cinema trend, featuring giant screens, plush seating, gourmet concessions, and digital 3D projection, is helping leading theater owners such as Carmike Cinemas differentiate themselves from the at-home and small screen cinema experience to provide patrons with more value for their entertainment dollar.

“It [Auro 11.1] adds another dimension of value to our concept. So it actually gives us another reason for customers to come to our theater specifically as opposed to a competitor. It makes it a more enticing proposition for the guests, as well as an increased premium value in higher dollar that we can achieve per ticket,” said Thomas Bridgman, Eastern Division Manager, Carmike Cinemas.
