WFP wins Nobel peace prize with support of cinema
1 min di lettura
Exactly one year ago, we wrote about the unique partnership between the UN World Food Programme (WFP) and the Global Cinema Advertising Association (SAWA). Together they launched the “Feed our Future” campaign. Building on the amazing story-telling power of cinema, the campaign video aired in theatres all around the world to raise awareness on the topic of hunger and children suffering from malnutrition. Barco and Cinionic supported the WFP & SAWA partnership where possible with our state-of-the-art projectors.
Today we can announce that the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) received the Nobel Peace Prize 2020 “for its efforts to combat hunger, for its contribution to bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict."[1]
Thank you to all for being the best industry ever!
Cheryl WannelCEO of SAWA
The commitment of the cinema industry has certainly helped this cause. Over the last two years, the Global Cinema Medium raised 50 million US dollars to support the humanitarian work of WFP and help the unfortunate.
We’re extremely proud that Barco and Cinionic could play a small part in this wonderful work. Cinema can make a difference to make the place a better world!
