Organizations standardize on room systems for security, consistency, and ease of use. However, hybrid work is rarely predictable. In day-to-day work, meeting invites may be scheduled on Zoom, Webex, or Google Meet. The reserved room may be unexpectedly unavailable, requiring a quick switch to another space. External guests may need to host from their own laptop. These scenarios can create delays, improvised setups, and unnecessary support requests.
Wireless BYOD for ClickShare Hub is designed to address these common situations. Employees and guests simply plug the next-gen ClickShare Button into their laptop to connect automatically to the room’s display, camera, microphone, and speakers – then start the meeting from their laptop. This enables meetings to run on the required platform while maintaining a consistent in-room experience, including wireless content sharing.
For IT managers and integrators, Wireless BYOD can be enabled in a room system without additional room reconfiguration or extra wiring. It provides a standardized solution for common realities, including platform mismatches, last-minute room switches, and guest-led meetings, helping reduce urgent tickets and avoidable escalations. Wireless BYOD does not require new end-user hardware beyond the ClickShare Button already used for ClickShare experiences.
ClickShare Hub was introduced at InfoComm 2025 as one of the first modular room systems built on the Microsoft Devices Ecosystem Platform (MDEP). With the addition of Wireless BYOD, ClickShare Hub now supports meetings on third-party video conferencing platforms.
“Room systems provide a standard for many organizations because they deliver a consistent, secure experience at scale,” said Jan van Houtte, Executive Vice President, Meeting Experience at Barco. “With Wireless BYOD for ClickShare Hub, Barco takes an important step in our strategy to make meeting rooms more flexible, yet simple and secure, so people can collaborate with confidence in any situation.”
Wireless BYOD will be available this summer with firmware version 4.3. You can see it live at InfoComm 2026, June 17–19.
