The need for clarity, peace of mind and flexibility
Following an extensive evaluation of available technologies, C-DOT selected Barco’s comprehensive control room ecosystem powered by the Barco CTRL software platform. This decision was based on the platform’s proven capabilities in addressing complex visualization, control, and security requirements.
Irdeto wanted an environment where operators can immediately see what is important, without searching or switching between screens. Key requirements included the ability to display a single source across the entire video wall, switch quickly between incidents, and collaborate more easily with colleagues worldwide.
“We were looking for a solution that would allow us to think less about screens and systems,” says Andy. "We wanted technology that support us, rather than something we constantly have to think about.”
From 48 separate screens to one integrated environment
During the discussions between Barco partner INTER and Irdeto, it became clear that a future-proof setup was needed where operators could collaborate more effectively. The choice fell on the Barco CTRL KVM over IP solution with a Barco UniSee II LCD video wall. This replaced separate screens with a single integrated canvas that supports the entire operation.
Barco CTRL provides complete management of all visual sources within the control room environment. With a single mouse and keyboard, operators can seamlessly control content on both the large video wall and individual workstations.
The power of the new solution lies precisely in its simplicity. The entire video wall can be controlled from the workstation and sources can be displayed in large format very fast. This provides immediate visibility into the SOC and makes workflows more intuitive.
"You notice it straight away," says Andy. "What was previously spread across dozens of screens now comes together in a single view. We see what has priority faster and respond with less noise. That makes a world of difference."
The videoconferencing camera also helps us consult more quickly with colleagues worldwide. Incidents can be shared and discussed immediately, which shortens response times and strengthens collaboration.
