Context
Currently formed by six members, Os Quatro e Meia hits the national charts with new sounds and looks on Portuguese music. After playing in the famous Coliseums and Estádio Cidade de Coimbra, the band took it one step further with their debut at the biggest concert hall in the capital: the Altice Arena with a capacity of 20,000 people.
The show promised a visual extravaganza enrapturing the audience with a stage and video design adding a visual dimension which resonates with the band's music.
Challenge
Central to the Altice Arena show was the synergy between visual storytelling and musical prowess with a colossal 40 x 9 meters LED screen, boasting an extraordinary canvas resolution of 8320 x 2080 pixels. The system architecture ingeniously distributed a 2160p50 resolution across 4 output channels for a captivating blend of pixels and light. The intricate video setup demanded meticulous coordination to seamlessly integrate with Os Quatro e Meia's live performance.
The challenge was extended to the technical maestros from Lightrent.pt, tasked with ensuring that the video elements harmonized effortlessly with the band's show.
Solution
At the heart of the visual spectacle lay the strategic integration of state-of-the-art video equipment from Barco. The organizers employed three E2 screen management units and two Barco EC-210 controllers. Tasked with processing the live video feed from eight cameras, the EventMaster devices operated flawlessly, managing color processing, blendings, effects mixing, and cue-list management in real time.
Behind the scenes, the collaborative efforts of different suppliers and production crews ensured the show ran with precision. Special acknowledgments go out to the teams of Lightrent.pt, 512livedesign.com, and PrimeiraLinha.pt for their pivotal roles in orchestrating the concert.
Results
As the final notes echoed through the arena, the audience was left in awe, a collective witness to the seamless fusion of artistic vision and technology poised to elevate the concert to visual heights.
Musically and visually, the event delivered an unforgettable experience for the attendees, where Os Quatro e Meia's exceptional talent, Barco's cutting-edge video equipment, and the collaborative efforts of the different teams converged into an immersive spectacle.
