For the first time, TIME Magazine, in collaboration with data firm Statista, has published its ranking of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies for 2024. We are proud to be featured on this prestigious list, highlighting our commitment to environmental and social responsibility. With a score of 55.71, we are ranked 415th out of 500 companies and stand alongside nine other Belgian organizations recognized for their sustainability efforts. In the “Manufacturing & Industrial Production” category, we are positioned 42nd out of 55, reflecting our strong performance in this competitive industry.

Evaluation criteria

Starting from a pool of over 5,000 companies, TIME and Statista’s comprehensive methodology for compiling the top 500 list evaluates companies on various sustainability indicators, including environmental impact, social responsibility, and corporate governance. The assessment examines factors such as carbon footprint, resource management, employee welfare, and transparency in reporting. The 2024 sustainability study also measures progress against climate initiatives like the 1.5°C Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), focusing on scope 1 and 2 emissions, energy consumption, and the proportion of renewable energy used in operations.

Sustainability at the core of our DNA

Dries Vanneste, Sustainability Manager at Barco, commented on this achievement: “We have prioritized sustainable practices as cornerstones of our strategy for many years. This inclusion in TIME magazine's list reinforces the dedication of all Barco employees worldwide to these goals. It also highlights areas for improvement, which is exactly what we strive for: continuously raising the bar on our sustainability efforts.”
