Take science-based climate action

We aim for science-based climate action and continue the journey to net zero. Our 2030 and 2050 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions targets are in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. By reducing our carbon footprint and developing solutions that contribute to tackling climate change, we aim to protect the planet for future generations.

Develop more sustainable products

We’re dedicated to developing more sustainable products, considering the environmental impact at every stage of the lifecycle. Our Ecoscoring methodology evaluates key areas – Energy efficiency, Materials, Packaging & Logistics, and End-of-life & Circularity – to ensure our hardware and software meet the highest environmental standards. By integrating ecodesign and responsible sourcing, we minimize our environmental footprint while maintaining the quality and innovation that define us.

Barco Ecoscoring methodology

A comprehensive way to measure environmental impact

To measure our products’ environmental footprint, we developed an objective tool that evaluates their overall ecodesign performance: the Barco Ecoscoring system. Products that rank highest – indicating a lower environmental footprint – get the Barco Eco-label.

Circular Economy Concept Focused On Sharing And Recycling

Offer circular solutions

We want to provide our customers with an increasingly circular experience. This means designing our products to extend their lifespan and offering 'as-a-service' models that eliminate the need for ownership. Our aim is to retain the highest utility and value of our products and components for as long as possible. Additionally, we aim to reduce our own company waste and recycle remaining waste as much as possible.

Our targets for 2027

80% of our revenue will come from Barco Eco-labeled products (hardware, software, and services).

75% of our energy consumption will originate from renewable sources.

85% of our company waste will be recycled.

Zero waste will go to landfill.

By 2030, reduce absolute scope 1 & 2 carbon emissions by 42% (2024 baseline).

By 2030, reduce absolute scope 3 carbon emissions by 25% (2024 baseline).

30% of our suppliers by emissions, covering purchased goods and services, will have science-based targets by 2030 (baseline 2024).

Turning Barco’s heritage into impact for Engineers Without Borders

What started as an auction of vintage Barco radios and televisions turned into an opportunity to help communities around the world. Participants bid on pieces of Barco's history, joined Experience Center tours, and contributed through catering initiatives. Together, they raised funds that Barco matched, bringing the total donation to €10,000 for Engineers Without Borders Belgium.
