Context
As a growing technology hub, Zarzis sought to enhance its appeal to global businesses and professionals by offering state-of-the-art tools for prototyping, training, and 3D modelling. Sectors such as automotive, aeronautics, medicine, architecture, and oil and gas stood to benefit immensely from advanced VR capabilities, while educational institutions across Tunisia needed access to immersive learning technologies to prepare students for a competitive future.
The primary goal for this installation was to create a versatile and high-performance VR environment that could cater to diverse applications—ranging from industrial prototyping to educational programs—all while ensuring seamless user interaction and immersion. The solution needed to integrate robust visualization technology capable of delivering ultra-high resolution, precise tracking, and interactive 3D experiences.
Solution
ST Engineering Antycip, a leading provider of simulation, visualization, and virtual reality solutions, partnered with Barco to deliver a state-of-the-art VR CAVE featuring three Barco F80-Q9 projectors, lauded for their precision and reliability. These projectors power a three-sided CAVE environment with a 4,800 x 2,000 pixel resolution on each 2.4x3m screen, providing ultra-sharp visuals that are critical for detailed prototyping, 3D modelling, and immersive learning experiences. The laser-phosphor technology of the F80 projectors ensures long-lasting performance, minimal maintenance, and consistent image quality, making them an ideal solution for demanding professional and educational environments.
The CAVE is equipped with a four-camera tracking system that enhances user engagement through precise real-time interaction, creating a seamless immersive experience for its users. Additionally, the inclusion of 70 pairs of 3D glasses supports collaborative usage, allowing groups to work or learn together within the virtual environment.
