Opening doors to possibility: encouraging women in tech

2 minutos leídos

For International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women who design, build, and improve the technologies that shape our world. At Barco, we know great technology doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s shaped by people with different backgrounds, ideas, and ways of thinking, all working toward something meaningful. That’s why encouraging girls to explore STEM and consider a career in technology matters, not just for equality, but for innovation itself.

Inspiration starts early

For many girls, interest in science or technology begins with curiosity, but confidence is often linked to representation. That’s why we created a short video to inspire girls and young women to explore the wide range of paths a tech career can offer.

    Diversity fuels innovation at Barco

One of the three pillars of our people strategy is “Engaging people”: fostering teams that thrive on diversity, continuous learning, and psychological safety.

“We believe that an inclusive workplace, where different backgrounds and viewpoints are valued, strengthens our innovation capacity,” says Lien Meuleman, Chief HR Officer at Barco. “Encouraging girls into STEM does not stop at education. It also means creating workplaces where talent can grow, regardless of background, career path, or starting point.”

    Championing diversity

Our CEO, An Steegen, is one of the few female CEOs in global technology and a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion. She was recently recognized on Variety’s 2025 Women’s Impact Report, highlighting her role in advancing visualization technology, sustainability, and diversity in STEM.

At Barco, we will continue to invest in diversity, learning, and inclusive teams. Because the challenges of tomorrow demand the broadest possible range of ideas today.
