Feld Entertainment takes control of their projection fleet

From dazzling ice arenas to high-energy motorsports experiences, Feld Entertainment creates unforgettable live shows for audiences worldwide. With productions like Disney On Ice, Monster Jam, and Ringling Bros., every performance relies on flawless execution behind the scenes. To support this level of consistency, Feld has long relied on Barco’s powerful projection technology. Today, they’re taking that reliability a step further – by gaining full control over their active projection fleet with the Barco Insights Management Suite.

Over the years, Feld Entertainment has continuously invested in Barco UDX-4K40 projectors to support its touring productions, gradually building a fleet of 24 units. These projectors have become an essential backbone of their visual setup, delivering the brightness, reliability and flexibility required for large-scale live events.

Alongside the hardware, Feld started using the Barco Insights Management Suite – a cloud-based IoT platform designed to monitor and manage projector fleets remotely.

What began as a supportive tool quickly became an integral part of their operations.

In live entertainment, there is no margin for error. Touring productions operate under tight schedules, with limited time for troubleshooting on site. Managing a distributed fleet of projectors adds complexity – especially when visibility into system health is limited.

As the initial Insights Management Suite licenses for part of their fleet approached expiration, Feld Entertainment didn’t look for an alternative – they looked for an opportunity to build on what was already working. Having experienced the benefits first-hand, they set out to bring the same level of visibility and control to their entire projector fleet, creating a more proactive and streamlined way of managing operations.

Recognizing the value the platform had already proven in their day-to-day operations, Feld Entertainment chose to upgrade to the full Insights Management Suite Control package across their entire Barco projector fleet, unlocking deeper insight and enhanced remote management capabilities. With this upgrade, their team gained the ability to monitor all active projectors through a single, centralized cloud-based dashboard, accessible anytime and from anywhere.

The Insights Management Suite enables Feld to stay ahead of potential issues by receiving real-time health notifications via e-mail, providing early warnings before challenges impact a live show. When deeper investigation is needed, operators can remotely trigger and download diagnostic packages, significantly reducing the need for on-site intervention.

The ability to proactively monitor system health and respond to early warning signals means potential issues can be identified and addressed before they escalate into show-critical problems. This significantly reduces the risk of unexpected downtime in environments where performance continuity is essential.

At the same time, visibility into current system health, as well as environmental conditions such as ambient temperature and humidity, allows the team to better understand performance context and optimize system reliability.
