The spotlight on tomorrow

Every year, SIGGRAPH brings together the brightest minds in computer graphics, animation, visual effects, gaming, simulation, AI, and interactive technology. As the industry's premier conference and exhibition, it serves as a global platform where breakthrough ideas become reality and where the future of digital storytelling unfolds in front of a live audience.

For the 2026 edition in Los Angeles, more than 9,500 attendees from 69 countries gathered to explore the latest innovations shaping the industry. At the heart of that experience stood the conference's main theatre – a flagship venue seating more than 1,000 attendees and hosting keynotes, technical sessions, industry presentations, and premium content showcases throughout the week.

A crowd that knows every pixel

SIGGRAPH audiences are not easily impressed. The conference attracts many of the creators, researchers, engineers, and artists responsible for advancing the state of computer graphics itself. Presentations featured leading voices from organizations spanning research institutions, major studios, game developers, and technology innovators, all sharing cutting-edge developments in visual computing and storytelling.

With presenters showcasing animation reels, visual effects demonstrations, cinematic sequences, AI-driven content, and immersive experiences, image quality was never a nice-to-have. Every detail mattered. Every frame was under scrutiny. The projection system needed to deliver consistent brightness, exceptional color accuracy, high resolution, and unwavering reliability across a packed programme running from morning presentations to evening screenings.

A projection lineup built for performance

To support the demanding schedule of the main theatre, Barco supplied four UDM-4K30 laser projectors and one Barco Series 4 cinema laser projector.

Throughout the day, the four UDM-4K30 projectors illuminated a 70-foot-wide screen, ensuring presenters could showcase their work with the clarity and brightness required by an audience of visual technology experts. Whether displaying complex simulations, photorealistic rendering techniques, research visualizations, or animation previews, the projectors delivered sharp, detailed images that maintained their impact across the large venue.

As the conference transitioned into evening programming, the Series 4 cinema laser projector took over for screenings of animated shorts, movie clips, and premium cinematic content. Designed for demanding cinema applications, it ensured audiences could experience content exactly as its creators intended, with rich colors, striking contrast, and precise image reproduction.

Together, the projection setup provided the versatility needed to support the full spectrum of SIGGRAPH content, from technical presentations to cinematic storytelling.

Delivering a stage worthy of innovation

Over five days, Barco's projection technology helped power one of the conference's most important spaces, enabling thousands of attendees to engage with the latest advances in animation, AI, robotics, visual effects, gaming, simulation, and immersive experiences.

By combining the brightness and reliability of the UDM platform with the cinematic performance of the award-winning Series 4 family, Barco helped create an environment where innovation could be presented without compromise. For speakers, it meant confidence that their work would be shown at its best. For attendees, it meant an engaging visual experience worthy of the groundbreaking ideas on display.

At an event dedicated to pushing the boundaries of visual technology, Barco helped ensure the presentation experience lived up to the content itself.
