From temporary setups to a permanent system
The ICSS combines high-definition CCTV coverage across critical zones with AI-based analytics, including crowd density, facial recognition, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), loitering, and abandoned object detection. For peak moments such as festival periods and VIP movements, temporary and portable deployments add extra capacity.
Just as important, the system connects to what is already there: the existing traffic management (ITMS) and SJTA systems, emergency response, and law enforcement platforms. The goal is better governance, faster response times, and decisions based on data.
One wall, 461 cameras
All this information needs a place where people can see it together. That place is a 9x4 Barco UniSee video wall, powered by the Barco NSD-430 controller.
On this canvas, the ICSS brings together live feeds from 461 CCTV cameras and real-time crowd density analysis. Operators see where crowds are building, where movement slows down, and where attention is needed next. Because every stakeholder department looks at the same picture, coordination gets simpler. Authorities can monitor congestion, guide crowd and traffic flows, and direct emergency teams with a shared understanding of the situation.
Why UniSee fits the job
Following hundreds of camera feeds on separate screens is like reading a book with pages torn out. Barco UniSee's NoGap technology keeps the space between panels virtually invisible, so images can stretch across multiple tiles without losing information.
Barco's Sense X technology keeps that canvas consistent. It continuously measures color and brightness and adjusts when needed, so no tile drifts away from its neighbors and operators can stay focused on what is happening in the streets.
Built for round-the-clock operations
The project calls for 24x7 operations, and the wall is designed with that in mind. Barco UniSee includes eye fatigue reduction measures and reduced radiant heating, and its wide viewing angles let colleagues at different spots in the room see the same clear picture.
Reliability matters just as much. Panels can be serviced from the front without dismantling their neighbors, and critical components such as the power supply can be made redundant. Combined with a system architecture that includes cloud-based disaster recovery and cybersecurity compliance, the ICCC is prepared for the busiest days of the year.
Ready for what comes next
The ICSS was designed as a scalable platform that can take on future expansion and new use cases. The modular UniSee platform fits that approach, as it grows with your needs.
Safer cities, worldwide
The Chief Secretary of Odisha has pointed to the important role of the Integrated Command and Control System in the safe and efficient management of the festival. At Barco, we are proud to support Safe City initiatives that strengthen situational awareness and collaboration. In Puri, that means 461 cameras, one seamless video wall, and a team that sees the full picture when it matters most.
