About the Desktop App

The Desktop App is a computer program that allows the user to connect to and manage a ClickShare system. An installation is required before the Desktop App can be used. In cases where an installation is not desired, the Button App can be used. For more information, see “The Button App”.

Windows Desktop App variants

The Desktop App requires the use of drivers for some ClickShare features on Windows. These drivers increase the size of the Desktop App. For this reason, a basic and advanced installer are available. The advanced installer allows for sharing or extending the desktop without requiring a Button to be connected. For more information, see “Desktop App sharing” or “Extending the desktop”.

Prerequisites

The desired device must comply with the setup requirements. For more information, see “Setup requirements”.

How to install

1. Download the desired variant from the Barco website:

   • Basic Windows version (.exe): https://www.barco.com/en/support/software/R3306183.
   • Advanced Windows version (.msi): https://www.barco.com/en/support/software/R3306194.
   • Basic MacOS version (.DMG): https://www.barco.com/en/support/software/R3306192.
   • Advanced MacOS version (.PKG): https://www.barco.com/en/support/software/R3307118.
2. Unzip the downloaded package.

3. Run the installer with the file extension of the desired variant.

   

   Note: The advanced versions require administrator rights to install.

4. Is the advanced version being installed?

   • If yes, an installation wizard is opened. Go to next step.
   • If no, the basic Desktop App has been successfully installed. No further actions required.

5. Click Next (reference 2) to start the installation.

   

   The license page is shown.

6. Read the Barco end user license agreement (reference 5).

   

   Tip: The license agreement can be printed using the Print button (reference 3).

   

7. Check the check box in front of I accept the terms in the License Agreement (reference 4, Image 3–2) to agree to the terms.

   

   Note: It is not possible to install the Desktop App without agreeing to the terms.

8. Click Next (reference 2, Image 3–2).

   The component page is shown.

9. Select the desired installation option for each component from the drop down in front of the component (reference 6).

   • Install the selected feature ().
   • Install the selected feature when required ().
   • Do not install the selected feature ().

   

10. Click Install (reference 2, Image 3–3)

    The desired configuration is installed. This may take several minutes. The confirmation page is shown when the installation is completed.

11. Click Finish (reference 2) to complete the installation.

    

    The advanced Desktop App has been successfully installed.
