Compact, yet great resolution and active 3D stereo
Working with local Barco partner Intertech Vision ME, TechViz and ART, NYU Abu Dhabi designed and built a three-sided (3m x 3m) forward projection cave, on budget and on time. Barco’s F50 WUXGA projector appeared the best choice to generate lifelike images. The F50 is the world’s first lamp-based single-chip DLP® projector that combines native WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) and Panorama (2,560 x 1,080) resolution with active 3D stereo and high frame rates. The users at the AIM Research Lab love it for the razor-sharp images it delivers, with vivid colors and rich in contrast. The low noise levels and compact design make it a perfect fit for the research cave, while the NYU Management appreciates its reliable DLP® technology, low maintenance needs and, consequently, low total cost of ownership.
Leader in 3D VR research
Equipped with this cave, the Applied Interactive Multimedia Research Lab at NYU’s Abu Dhabi campus gives students and researchers access to the advanced technology needed to fully understand 3D modeling applications across many fields. It also further underlines NYU Abu Dhabi’s reputation as an educational leader in 3D VR research.
