To enhance its event hosting capabilities, it engaged Vega to develop and implement technology that can support various event formats. Vega conceptualized and created a virtual production studio, equipped with the latest technology, and installed a state-of-the-art curved LED video wall. These upgrades would enable the seamless live streaming, broadcasting, and recording of events, either as standalone sessions or in conjunction with other meeting spaces in Hilton Tokyo. Through this partnership with Vega, Hilton Tokyo aimed to exceed attendee expectations and offer a differentiated event-hosting experience.
Getting to grips with the challenges
The project presented numerous challenges due to its complexity and the involvement of multiple components. Looking for a new power source for the video wall, working on a tight schedule, brainstorming the possible design of the LED video wall, future-proofing the system with high-def. digital technology, and guiding the hotel staff on the use of VGA connectors to HDMI, Vega in partnership with Barco was able to turn Hilton Tokyo’s vision into reality.
Vega collaborated with Barco to create a one-of-a-kind curved LED video wall comprised of 252 LED tiles, each with a pixel resolution of W6720 x H1215. With Barco’s Infinipix® image processor, Barco’s LED video wall solution ensures superior image quality, flexibility, and durability, allowing for widescreen blending and mapping to perfection in any screen configuration. The Barco S3 Event Master also provides screen management capabilities, allowing hotel staff to easily and efficiently present the content on the video wall, create scenarios, manage all various inputs, and edit operations related to size, resolution, or colorimetry.
The virtual production studio features game engine software, cinema-grade hardware, XR and non-XR shoot capabilities, multi-site linkup, greenscreen, and Dolby Atmos spatial audio recording and mixing capability. The technology enables the creation of virtual environments, scenic backgrounds, custom content, and video layers, all supported by Vega’s on-site team.
