Barco brings focus and efficiency to surgical control room workflow during interventional procedures

Kortrijk, Belgium, 6 May 2019 — Barco’s new control room solution helps surgical staff to improve efficiency, consistency and reliability during interventional procedures. The solution, named Nexxis WorkSpot, allows operators to manage up to 6 sources and medical applications from a single display instead of via multiple monitors, keyboards and mice.

In interventional suites, such as cardiac cath labs, the quality and reliability of medical displays is critical. Life-saving procedures depend on having visibility of all the right information at the right time. Think of a stent placement, an angioplasty or any procedure where the image guides the surgeon.

Modern interventional rooms are equipped with large, high-resolution displays. The latest 4K displays, for example, are able to bring together all imaging sources in flexible layouts on one screen, with the highest detail,” says Bruno Debonnet, product manager at Barco. “In the control room of a hybrid OR or cath lab, however, you’ll still find a mix of displays, keyboards, and applications. That’s why we developed Nexxis WorkSpot. It allows you to view all information on a single display, managed by a single keyboard and mouse.”

Centralized view of all information
Offering one view of all information as well as flexible layouts, Nexxis WorkSpot has been designed to improve teamwork and reduce clutter and complexity in the interventional control room. The intuitive software enables clinical staff to manage up to 6 sources or applications from one integrated display, manage source selection and define preset configurations. The fully integrated and centralized control of all sources results in higher efficiency and more flexibility in the interventional suite and for general surgery.

Built on a proven platform
Nexxis WorkSpot is part of Barco’s Nexxis for Interventional Suites solution, which has been designed to cover the specific imaging requirements of hybrid operating rooms, interventional X-ray suites and cardiac cath labs. It provides the surgical team with an easy and intuitive user interface to access and control a wide range of medical images and information simultaneously on a large screen with flexible and customizable layouts.

Designed for the future
Every Nexxis component is designed and manufactured with special attention to the protection of the environment and the sustainable use of natural resources. The latest Nexxis components are smaller and use 50% less power.Nexxis is built on a future-proof and scalable architecture by using network technology and open standards. It assures best-in-class HD and 4K image quality (up to uncompressed 4K/60Hz/4:4:4 @ 10-bit) for mission-critical medical imaging applications.
