Charleroi police department installs Barco video walls

The police department of Charleroi, the biggest city in Belgium's Walloon region, chose Barco technology for its new dispatch and crisis center. Focal point of the new center is a large Barco video wall composed of four 70" full HD DLP LED-lit projection modules (OL-721). The crisis room has been equipped with Barco too: it features four NSL-4601 tiles.
In the space of a few short weeks, Barco partner SAIT Zenitel set up the new servers, network and the long Barco rear-projection video wall in the dispatch center. Besides ensuring the sharpest and most saturated colors in full HD resolution, the OL-721 wall meets a key concern of the Charleroi police: it is fully redundant. “We were the only bidder who could promise this redundancy," highlighted SAIT Zenitel’s Miguel Delacroix.
While the police management is delighted with the redundancy features, the dispatch room operators are very pleased with the wall’s image quality and ease-of-use. They can view images from the CCTV cameras and project images from their displays onto the wall, with the greatest ease. In an emergency, the dispatch operators work closely together with the people in the crisis room, which now features a Barco wall consisting of four NSL-4601 LCD displays (46'').
The walls in the dispatch and crisis room are fully controlled and managed over the same network. In this way, the police department can easily deliver the same content to all the walls, thus fostering collaboration, improving decision-making and ensuring more security in the city of Charleroi.
