Creating a surreal experience where light and shadow intertwine

Located in Chengdu's Eastern Suburb Memory district, ARTE MUSEUM CHENGDU combines digital technology and artistic storytelling to create immersive, multisensory experiences.

In 2026, as audience expectations continued to evolve, the museum undertook a comprehensive content refresh with the launch of its new PINK MOON FESTA exhibition. Blending visual effects, soundscapes, and spatial fragrances, the digital art exhibition reimagines the power and beauty of nature through the theme of "Eternal Nature," delivering a refreshed multisensory journey for visitors.

For immersive venues, the projection system is the foundation of the visitor experience. As exhibitions evolve and content is refreshed, operators must maintain the same high image quality visitors expect while ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.

Bringing eight immersive environments to life

Across eight immersive installations, Barco projectors transform walls, floors, and architectural elements into dynamic digital canvases, creating a dreamlike world where nature, light, and imagination converge.

Visitors can experience cascading waterfalls of light in Infinite Falls, wander through mirrored landscapes filled with drifting pink petals in Flowers, and step into fantastical oceans, forests, and skies illuminated by the exhibition's signature pink hues. A giant whale emerges from shimmering waters, moonlit woodland scenes are inhabited by glowing wildlife and the mythical moon rabbit, while flashes of lightning illuminate clouds in a surreal spectacle of color and movement.

Interactive attractions such as Dynamic Sketchbook encourage participation by transforming children's drawings into animated digital creations. Meanwhile, the large-scale Garden installation uses a combination of UDM and G Series projectors to transport audiences through immersive visual journeys inspired by destinations around the world.

Together, 68 G-series and 28 UDM projectors create seamless, high-quality imagery throughout the museum, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in a richly layered, multisensory experience.

Three years of stability supporting continued innovation

The essence of an immersive experience is making the technology disappear, allowing audiences to focus entirely on the story unfolding around them. Achieving this requires not only outstanding visual performance on day one, but also long-term consistency throughout years of operation.

Since the museum's opening, Barco's G Series and UDM Series projectors have performed reliably under demanding daily conditions, maintaining image quality across all exhibition spaces. Their color accuracy, consistent brightness, and dependable operation provided a solid foundation for the successful launch of the PINK MOON FESTA exhibition.

Beyond enhancing the visitor experience, the projection system has enabled the museum to continue exploring new content partnerships, business models, and audience engagement opportunities. Backed by Barco's reliability and service expertise, ARTE MUSEUM CHENGDU is well positioned to continue evolving its offering while maintaining the high standards visitors expect. The museum is a a reference for the long-term, high-quality operation of digital art spaces in China.

Projector durability, reliability, and overall stability are the key factors we value most in our daily operations. Barco projectors have always been our trusted choice, delivering precise color reproduction, reliable long-term performance, and convenient after-sales support, giving us confidence and peace of mind.

- Jian Youcai, Technical Director of ARTE MUSEUM CHENGDU

In response to changing market trends, we need to move beyond the traditional single-mode operation of art museums and embrace more diverse IP collaborations and content partnerships. We are actively exploring deeper commercial cooperation with the surrounding cultural and creative ecosystem, aiming to achieve mutual growth and win-win development across different sectors.

- Liu Jun, Director of ARTE MUSEUM CHENGDU
