Barco powers AIA Conference with interactive visual spectacular

Orlando, Florida, US - 2017

The American Institute of Architects’ annual “AIA Conference on Architecture” is the industry’s most significant architecture and design event of the year. So when it came time to create a dynamic show featuring iconic visuals, VIP presentations, and live social media feeds, the Barco E2 screen management system and large venue projectors were the perfect choices to ensure a flawless performance.

Barco solution

  • E2 screen management system
  • EC-200
  • HDF-W30 FLEX Projectors

Why Barco?

  • Unparalleled flexibility
  • Most comprehensive screen management system of its kind
  • High brightness, color accuracy, stability
  • Remarkable scaling power
For its 2017 event in Orlando, Florida, the AIA promoted its theme of “designing a better world” – a concept which also inspired the power and versatility built-into Barco’s Event Master series and high-brightness projection solutions. Show producer and National Director of Video for JSAV Brian O’Neal used two linked E2 4K screen management systems and 16 Barco HDF-W30 Flex projectors to create multiple image layers, some with vertical flats grouped with blends on the outsides, to create numerous scenarios. The highlight: a backdrop with integrated social media messages created for the keynote speech by Michelle Obama, former First Lady of the United States.

“We had many challenges on this show - switching was not one of them,” comments O’Neal. “The flexibility that the E2 and companion EC-200 bring to the table is truly amazing. With linked E2s driving this show, we were able to bring the creative to life. The warp capabilities of the HDF-W30 Flex coupled with the E2's layering, switching and I/O capabilities makes for a cohesive system!”

Modularity, ease of use and 4K native switching make E2 the perfect workhorse
The flagship model in the Event Master family, the E2 is a groundbreaking “show in a box,” offering video professionals unparalleled flexibility to manage the most awe-inspiring visuals. Excelling in image quality, I/O density, seamless switching, expandability and durability, it is the most comprehensive system of its kind. Due to the modular nature of Barco’s screen management systems, inputs, outputs, layers and linking can all be customized to suit your installation requirements.

Brightest is best with the HDF-W30 live show powerhouse
Geared with 3-chip DLP technology and a high-contrast optical engine, the HDF-W30 FLEX is ideal for premium large-screen projection thanks to its high brightness, color accuracy, and stability. Rental companies have the flexibility to tune the projector's brightness to a specific show - from 18,000 to 30,000 lumens in incremental steps of 2,000 lumens. Rugged, reliable, and easy to install and service, the HDF-30 is also equipped with Barco’s cutting-edge ImagePRO technology for remarkable scaling power.

“The HDF-W30 Flex's gave us the punch and flexibility to warp and map to the borderless screens and flats,” comments O’Neal. “We had a lot of negative space that had to be accounted for on the projection and creative side. The ability to group flats with the blends via layers allowed the creative team to create looks that spanned the entire projected canvas with ease."

The flexibility that the E2 and EC-200 bring to the table is amazing.
