Barco announces next step for QDX projection platform with RGB models

Kortrijk, Belgium, 3 February 2026 – Barco, a global leader in visualization technology, introduces three new RGB models to its QDX platform, marking the moment the projection family becomes a fully rounded solution for themed entertainment and high-profile installations. With both laser phosphor and RGB options, and resolutions up to native 4K, the platform now gives integrators and content creators a complete mix and match toolkit for premium experiences.

Since its launch at ISE 2024, the QDX three-chip platform has grown into a flexible and future‑ready solution for venues where visual performance carries real storytelling value. Only recently, the platform proved its capabilities during the Freedom 250 projection mapping show at the Washington Monument, where QDX helped transform one of the world’s most recognized landmarks into a large‑scale immersive canvas.

The addition of the RGB light-source models is the next chapter in that story, a trajectory that keeps gaining momentum as the platform evolves.

The RGB capabilities strengthen the platform with a color performance that meets the expectations of the most ambitious creators. By covering the Rec.2020 color gamut, QDX RGB supports artistic freedom without compromise, enabling designers to display the most saturated hues and subtle gradients in the way they were originally conceived.

The new models also raise the bar for installation freedom. The QDX supports existing TLD+ lenses, offering the highest flexibility in installations. Thanks to a lens shift range that is exceptional for RGB native 4K projection – including up to 150 percent for ultra short throw – the projectors open possibilities for creative placements. Venues can integrate high output RGB projection into complex architectures while keeping the technical footprint discreet.

Longevity is another pillar of the expanded platform. Barco’s DuraOptix® design optimizes the optical path to help ensure a longer operational life and more consistent visual quality over time. For themed attractions that need to run reliably day after day, this supports a stable total cost of ownership and reduces maintenance‑related downtime.

With the QDX-N4K RGBs completing the family, QDX now offers a clear pathway for every type of experience, from immersive rides to large‑scale signature shows. The platform’s strengths in color quality, resolution, brightness and reliability come together to support unforgettable storytelling with fewer technical constraints, giving creators the confidence to push their ideas further.

The QDX RGB projectors will be on showcase at the ISE2026 tradeshow, Hall 2 Barco booth #2K300.
