Barco’s HDF-W26 projectors première during Berlin Festival of Lights

Each year in October, when the days get darker, the German capital of Berlin puts all its lights on for one of the world’s largest illumination festivals – the Berlin Festival of Lights. This year’s 8th edition, from 10 to 21 October last, marked a première for Barco and its integration partner XL Video Germany: eight ultra-bright HDF-W26 projectors helped brilliantly depict the story of the brand-new Volkswagen Golf VII on Berlin’s legendary Hotel Adlon.

XL Video has recently invested in a series of new, high-brightness Barco projectors to meet the market demand for exceptional levels of brightness. The new HDF-W26 projectors appeared to be ideal for Volkswagen’s projection mapping project onto the façade of Hotel Adlon.

“We chose the 26,000 lumens DLP projectors to set a brilliant highlight to Berlin’s Festival of Lights,” said Marco Scholwin, Operations Manager at XL Video Germany. “In addition, the WUXGA chip of the new projectors perfectly covered the 70 x 40 meters facade of the historic Adlon.”

The total set-up in Berlin included eight Barco HDF-W26 projectors. Barco’s proprietary Optical Soft Edge Matching was used to maintain the black level in the overlap zone to that of the separate images.
