The new DreamWorks Animation movie ‘The Croods’ premièred twice during the past 63rd Berlin International Film Festival: one day after its official première came an additional screening in Auro 11.1 by Barco. Thanks to the exceptionally natural sound ensured by the new Auro 11.1 sound format, moviegoers were totally immersed in the new movie at Berlin’s CineStar Sony Center, last Saturday.

Saturday’s screening followed a recent alliance between Barco and DreamWorks Animation, one of the world’s leading animation studios. 'The Croods' is the second movie in a series of four to be screened this year in the Auro 11.1 cinema sound format.

“This is the first movie where we have started post production using the Auro 11.1 sound format by Barco from premix through to final mix. The Auro workflow has exceeded our expectations in terms of ease of use, sound quality and meeting our budget. We actually finished the mix ahead of schedule,” said Jim Beshears, head of post production at DreamWorks Animation.

Oliver Fock, Managing Director at CineStar was proud to be the first theater in Berlin equipped with Auro 11.1 by Barco: “The sound quality of this new cinema sound format by Barco is simply amazing and ensures a truly immersive experience. We were so happy to première it to the Berlinale audience.”
