Big Mansion in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, United States · 2017
This amazing palatial residence in Henderson, Nevada, about 20 minutes outside of Las Vegas. Located in the prestigious Seven Hills community, the three-story home has 14,207 square feet of living space with four bedrooms and nine bathrooms. It has a beautiful 16 seat theater with a 200 inch 16:9 screen, a Loki projector and a full Dolby Atmos surround sound system. The theater alone is half a million dollars, all in.
The house is also equiped with a few other very nice architectural Integrated solutions. One of them is a dual dropdown screen and a hidden projector.
The dual screen system can be used as a front and a rear projection system. You can either lie in the bed and use the front projection screen or sit outside on the terrasse and use the rear projection screen. To be able to do this, you need a bright and powerful projector. Barco Balder was the choice for this install.
Context
Large‑Scale Residential Cinema and Dual‑Screen Concept
This project is set within a large residential property designed to support multiple premium entertainment experiences. The home includes a dedicated private cinema as well as additional integrated viewing solutions that extend beyond a single room. The overall concept focuses on combining scale, flexibility, and performance across different spaces in the house. The cinema and dual‑screen setup are presented as part of a broader approach to residential entertainment that prioritizes immersive viewing in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Challenge
Supporting High‑Brightness Projection Across Multiple Viewing Scenarios
Creating a cinema experience at this scale required addressing the demands of very large screen sizes and multiple viewing positions. The installation needed to deliver sufficient brightness and image clarity for a 200‑inch screen while also supporting a dual front and rear projection setup in the bedroom and terrace areas. The challenge was to ensure consistent visual performance across these different use cases without compromising comfort or usability. Each viewing scenario had to feel intentional and reliable within a residential setting.
Solution
Dedicated Private Theater With Dolby Atmos and Large‑Format Projection
The theater’s aesthetics blend perfectly with the room’s technology. A 200-inch Stewart Filmscreen Phantom High Ambient Light Rejecting curved, frameless screen powered by a Barco Residential Loki projector, create a superior visual experience. A McIntosh Labs processor powers a 13-speaker Dolby Atmos object-based surround sound system, using JL Audio in-wall Fathom subs and Bowers & Wilkins architectural speakers.
Indoor and Outdoor Viewing Using a Single Balder Projector
The master bedroom is equipped with a Barco Residential Balder DLP laser projector with a 145-inch Stewart motorized double-sided screen, which creates a mirrored image from the back to allow for viewing opportunities from both the bedroom or the balcony. This means you can use one projector for both indoor and outdoor viewing.
Results
Flexible High‑End Home Cinema Experiences Across the Property
The completed installation delivers multiple cinema experiences within a single residence, combining a dedicated theater room with flexible indoor and outdoor viewing options. The private theater supports large‑format projection and immersive surround sound, while the bedroom and terrace setup extends cinematic viewing to other parts of the home. Together, these systems demonstrate how high‑brightness projection and integrated audio can support different viewing styles without duplication of equipment. The result is a cohesive residential cinema concept designed for everyday use and special occasions alike.
