What does the future of mainstream cinema look like when technology and long-term partnership come together? For Kinopolis, one of Germany’s largest cinema groups, the answer is clear: brighter, sharper, and more consistent moviegoing experiences with Laser by Barco.
Building on a collaboration that began in 2022, Kinopolis and Barco have signed a new four-year agreement to complete a 100% laser projection rollout across the chain’s mainstream screens. The program includes the installation of more than 70 Barco Series 4 2K and 4K laser projectors across 11 theater locations, helping Kinopolis deliver a consistently high-quality experience from flagship venues to local cinemas.
This next phase in Barco & Kinopolis’ shared journey to elevate theatrical presentation is about more than replacing projectors. It is about scaling a future-ready cinema experience across Germany: one that delivers high-quality images in every frame, strengthens the exhibitor’s operational confidence, and gives audiences another reason to go to the movies.
Why laser matters on every screen
The Barco Series 4 laser projection family is designed to bring films to life with high brightness, strong contrast, vivid color, and improved clarity. For exhibitors, that means reliable performance and operational efficiency. For audiences, it means every visit can feel more immersive, with images presented in rich detail and consistent quality across the circuit.
A partnership built on experience
Kinopolis has long been known for combining premium technology with a strong hospitality mindset. Its portfolio includes some of Germany’s most recognized cinema destinations, such as Munich’s Mathäser Filmpalast.
The expanded partnership follows recent industry recognition for Kinopolis at CineEurope, where it was honored with two awards: the UNIC/Coca-Cola Retail Award for hospitality-led cinema at its newly opened Bad Homburg location, and the ICTA Best New Build Cinema award for its innovative Hamburg HafenCity venue. Together, these achievements reflect a clear ambition: to make cinema not only technically excellent, but memorable from the moment guests walk in.
