What's the expected behavior of Wired RoomDock on the ClickShare CB Pro?

Article number: [11933]

Applicable to

The expected behavior of Wired RoomDock on the ClickShare CB Pro depends on the cable connection, the USB Type used and laptop support of DP alt. mode.

Using a direct connection

  1. Connect USB Type-C port on laptop to Type-C (DP Input) port on the CB Pro.
    • The laptop can access the ClickShare camera/microphone/speaker from the CB Pro.
    • If laptop supports DP alt. mode (and cable supports DP alt mode1), laptop can also output content to CB Pro as extension display (exclusive mode).
      • Other Button or App users can no longer wireless share video/audio to the CB Pro (existing sharing sessions will be interrupted).
      • Once the laptop user disables the extension display, other Button or App users can continue to wireless share video/audio to the CB Pro.
    • If laptop does not support DP alt. mode (or cable does not support DP alt mode1), the laptop cannot output the laptop content to the CB Pro thru USB.
      • Other Button or App users can continue to wireless share video/audio to the CB Pro.
  2. (USBA support was removed from 2.20 onwards) Connect USB Type-A port on laptop to Type-C (DP Input) port on the CB Pro.
    • The laptop can access the ClickShare camera/microphone/speaker from the CB Pro.
    • The laptop cannot output the laptop content to the CB Pro thru USB as DP alt. mode is not supported in this configuration.
    • Other Button or App users can continue to wireless share video/audio to the CB Pro.

Using the Barco HDMI™-in to Type-C converter kit (R9861581)2

  1. Connect USB Type-C port on laptop to Type-C female port on the converter kit, then connect Type-C male port of the converter kit to Type-C (DP Input) port on CB Pro.
    • The laptop can access the ClickShare camera/microphone/speaker from the CB Pro.
    • The laptop can also output content to CB Pro as extension display (exclusive mode).
    • Other Button or App users can no longer wireless share video/audio to the CB Pro (existing sharing sessions will be interrupted).
  2. Connect USB Type-C port & HDMI port on laptop to female ports on the converter kit, then connect Type-C male port of the converter kit to Type-C (DP Input) port on CB Pro.
    • In some instances artifacts related to used bandwidth can be observed when using a USB Type-C and HDMI connection on the laptop, this can be resolved by limiting bandwidth by using a USB Type-A connection on the laptop in combination with a USB 2.0 restricted cable + HDMI. A USB 2.0 resticted cable can be recongised The plastic block inside the USB-A connector is typically black or white.
