What is the difference between a FAST and FULL calibration in MediCal QAWeb?

Article number: [4427] - Legacy code: [1050]

Fast calibration:

What is it?

A fast calibration will perform one to five measurements (depending on the display type) and calculate the correct calibration curve based on these measurements and more extended calibration data of the display which can be the factory calibration data (internally in the display) or data from the last Full calibration if a Full calibration has been executed before on this display.

When to use a fast calibration?

This calibration is the preferred option in most cases because the factory calibration is highly accurate. We only recommend switching to a Full calibration in case the Fast calibration does not yield the expected results.

On which products is this available?

A Fast calibration is available for all Barco Healthcare diagnostic and clinical/reviewing displays. A Fast calibration is not available on third-party displays.

Full calibration:

What is it?

A full calibration will measure a lot more gray levels on your displays (up to 64) and will not take into account any previous calibrations (including factory calibration information).

When to use a Full calibration?

Choose the Full calibration option in one of the following cases:

  • When using a third party display (no other options are available).
  • When a Fast calibration on a Barco diagnostic or clinical/reviewing display does not yield the expected results.
Note: You will need to use an external sensor such as the Barco LCD sensor to perform a Full calibration on the following types of displays:
  • 3rd party displays
  • Barco clinical/reviewing displays
  • Barco older Nio models (model names starting with 'E-' such as 'E-3620')
