ClickShare Button fails to connect, and the LED Ring spins when RingCentral or MiVoice 2380 Softphone is running

Article number: [7100]

Applicable to

Issue

When either the RingCentral App or MiVoice 2380 Softphone from Mitel is installed and running on a device, plugging in a ClickShare Button results in connectivity issues. The LED ring on the Button keeps spinning, and the ClickShare App remains stuck on “preparing”, unable to connect to the Base Unit. Our investigation shows that both RingCentral and MiVoice Softphone lock the HID device exposed by the ClickShare Button, preventing other applications from accessing it. This effectively blocks the ClickShare App from communicating with the Button, leaving it in a waiting state.

We recommend checking if either application offers configuration options available in the App to ensure compactivity with their corresponding vendors.

Solutions

  • Install the ClickShare Desktop App (how-to, see KB3714) and use it without the Button to host a conference call or share content.

  • Alternatively, disable the RingCentral App or MiVoice App to allow the ClickShare App to connect to the Button and enable sharing to the room display.
