Barco Unveils at GTC 2025 Two New AI-Powered Surgical Innovations Powered by NVIDIA Holoscan
Kortrijk, Belgium, 19 March 2025 – Barco, a global leader in visualization and collaboration technologies, will showcase the latest advancements in AI-powered surgical display and compute technology at NVIDIA GTC 2025.
Brilliant Assistant is the latest advanced surgical display, joint-developed by Barco and SoftAcuity, integrated with the NVIDIA Jetson Orin and NVIDIA Holoscan platforms.This voice-controlled touch display enables hands-free interactions in the operating room while ensuring seamless video connectivity to optimize surgical precision, efficiency and collaboration. The new Brilliant Assistant display is also compatible with Barco’s existing Nexxis software, giving clinicians the ability to share any video source on any connected display with near-zero latency during surgeries.
Nexxis Compute, in development by Barco, is a computing platform tailored for surgical environments. Barco is leveraging NVIDIA’s medical grade full stack accelerated computing architecture featuring the NVIDIA IGX and NVIDIA Holoscan platforms. Nexxis Compute combines Nexxis AV over IP routing with the real-time edge computing capabilities of NVIDIA Holoscan, enabling real-time video processing, while running regulated AI-enabled applications in the Operating Room.
Nexxis Compute provides Medical Device Manufacturers and OR Integrators with a collaborative platform to connect applications, reducing complexity and ensuring compatibility. For Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), it offers a validated, ready-to-use infrastructure with NVIDIA IGX compute power, ensuring seamless deployment and future-proofing the OR for AI-based algorithms and next-generation use cases.
