Issue
When sharing content using the ClickShare 5th Gen Button or wired fallback via USB‑C (DP‑Alt mode), colors on the room display (connected to the ClickShare Hub via HDMI™ output) may appear incorrect.
Examples:
- Certain interface elements or background colors are not displayed as intended (e.g. green appears incorrectly)
- Light pastel colors or light grey may appear as white
- Dark grey may appear as black
This issue occurs because of color inaccuracies, which can:
- Increases contrast, and
- Clip the lowest brightness levels to black and the highest to white.
Affected scenarios
Under the following situations, the color inaccuracies may occur:
- Sharing using the wired fallback.
- Button sharing over USB-C DP-Alt mode, specifically:
- When not using the ClickShare Client App.
- When using the ClickShare Client App in Desktop sharing mode and the Button is connected to a laptop USB-C port with DP-Alt mode support.
Workaround
To avoid color inaccuracies, do not use USB-C DP-Alt mode when sharing.
This can be achieved in the following ways:
- Use the ClickShare Desktop App for sharing.
- Connect the ClickShare Button or USB-C cable to a different USB port on your laptop device.
Note:
With a ClickShare Hub device running firmware version 4.02 or later, the following devices are known not to exhibit color inaccuracy issues:
- Windows devices equipped with Intel graphics
- Apple Silicon-based devices
