TruePix TP-i TUV certification 5-star rating eye comfort

Barco's TruePix TP-I LED video wall series has achieved the prestigious 5-star rating from TÜV Rheinland's Eye Comfort Certification, underscoring its suitability for critical environments. This highest-level certification validates the video wall's exceptional performance across six eye wellness factors, making it an ideal solution for control rooms, simulators, and premium home cinema installations.

The TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort Certification evaluates displays on a comprehensive scale from 1 to 5 stars, with higher ratings indicating more stringent standards. Achieving a 5-star rating means the TruePix  TP-I range meets the most demanding criteria across all evaluated dimensions, demonstrating Barco's commitment to user wellbeing and visual excellence.

The certification encompasses six key areas:

1. Ambient light management

TruePix intelligently adjusts screen brightness based on surrounding lighting conditions. This dynamic adaptation reduces eye strain by optimizing contrast, minimizing glare, and preventing the discomfort caused by excessively bright or dim displays in varying environmental conditions.

2. Color accuracy

Meeting the 5-star requirement of an average color difference of ΔE2000 ≤1.5 across 41 standard colors (which means a color and brightness uniformity of more than 98%), TruePix delivers exceptional color fidelity. When color or brightness inconsistencies occur, the viewers' eyes need to work hard to compensate. TruePix' great uniformity therefore actively prevents eye strain.

3. Color gamut

The video wall achieves the demanding 5-star color gamut requirements, covering a minimum of 95% DCI-P3 (a color space standard used in movies and high-end displays) and 95% sRGB color spaces – outperforming chip-on-board (COB) technology. This wide color gamut enables realistic, immersive visual experiences with accurate color reproduction, reducing visual fatigue caused by limited or inaccurate color representation.

4. High refresh rate

Exceeding the 5-star requirement of ≥120Hz refresh rate (240Hz in the firmware release of Q1 2026), TruePix delivers exceptional motion clarity and reduced eye strain. The high refresh rate minimizes motion blur, reduces perceived flicker, prevents tearing and stuttering of the image, and provides smoother visual transitions, which are critical features for tracking fast-moving content in control room and simulator applications.

5. Flicker-free performance

TruePix eliminates the rapid brightness changes that cause visual instability and fatigue, by providing a tile refresh rate of 7680 Hz. By providing a stable, consistent light source, the display prevents headaches, migraines, and continuous eye adjustment associated with flickering screens.

6. Low blue light emission

Achieving TÜV Hardware Low Blue Light Category II (≤35%) or Category I certification, the video wall minimizes exposure to high-energy blue light. This reduces eye strain, protects against potential long-term retinal risks, and helps preserve natural sleep-wake cycles. This is particularly important for operators working evening or night shifts.

SteadyView technology: the eye comfort innovation

A key enabler of the TruePix TP-I's exceptional eye comfort performance is Barco's innovative and patented SteadyView technology, integrated into the Infinipix processing that drives the LED video wall. SteadyView specifically targets visual flicker reduction, a critical factor in preventing eye fatigue during extended viewing periods.

This proprietary technology ensures stable, flicker-free image reproduction even during demanding operations, providing operators and viewers with a comfortable visual experience that maintains clarity and reduces strain over hours of continuous use.

A holistic approach to visual wellness

The TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort Certification represents a holistic evaluation methodology developed through extensive research partnerships with leading institutions, including the China National Institute of Standardization, National Key Laboratory of Human Factors and Ergonomics, Accessibility Research Association, and Chinese PLA General Hospital.

This comprehensive approach, encompassing ergonomics engineering research, academic partnerships, and user experience studies, ensures that certified displays genuinely support human visual health rather than simply meeting isolated technical specifications.

Ideal for many applications

24/7 control room environments

In control rooms, where operators monitor critical infrastructure, security systems, or industrial processes during full day shifts, the Eye Comfort Certification delivers tangible operational benefits. Extended exposure to suboptimal displays leads to eye fatigue, which can result in:

  • Decreased attention and alertness

  • Impaired decision-making capabilities

  • Reduced ability to detect subtle changes or anomalies

  • Increased error rates during critical operations

  • Operator discomfort and decreased job satisfaction

Barco's superior eye comfort characteristics help operators maintain peak performance throughout their shifts, directly contributing to operational safety and efficiency.

Simulator applications

In training simulators for aviation, automotive, maritime, or other industries, visual realism and extended comfort are paramount. Trainees and instructors spend hours in immersive environments where eye fatigue can:

  • Compromise training effectiveness

  • Reduce situational awareness

  • Create discomfort that distracts from learning objectives

  • Limit session duration and training throughput

TruePix's 5-star certification ensures that simulator environments maintain high visual quality while prioritizing user comfort, enabling longer, more effective training sessions.

Premium home cinema

For home cinema enthusiasts who invest in creating the ultimate viewing experience, TruePix offers theater-quality visuals with enhanced eye comfort. Whether enjoying extended movie marathons or immersive gaming sessions, users benefit from:

  • Reduced eye strain during long viewing periods

  • Superior color accuracy for authentic content reproduction

  • Smooth motion handling for action sequences

  • Comfortable viewing in various ambient lighting conditions

Conclusion

The Barco TruePix TP-I range's achievement of the 5-star TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort Certification, establishes a new benchmark for professional LED video walls. This certification provides control room operators, simulator users, and home cinema enthusiasts with confidence that their display technology prioritizes their visual health and comfort without compromising performance.

In mission-critical environments where human attention, decision-making, and sustained focus are essential, the superior eye comfort characteristics of TruePix TP-I translates directly into operational benefits, making it an investment in human performance and wellbeing.
