I’m Being Asked to Use a Passkey on a Shared or Public Computer. Is That Safe?

Article number: [15863]

You should not create or store a passkey on a shared/public device.

Instead:

  • Use a personal device (phone) as an external authenticator if supported (e.g. “Use a different device” or “Use your phone” option), Or

  • Sign in using your password and extra security method that doesn’t store credentials on the shared machine.

If you accidentally created a passkey on a shared device, remove it via your account security settings as soon as possible.
